Reading:

We are reviewing nouns daily during our morning calendar routine.  Do you remember School House Rock?…or am I really dating myself? Anyway, here’s another fun video to watch click here.  Our reading day was a big success!  We read many Dr. Seuss books throughout the week.

Science:

Students learned to identify various animal habitats and how scientists group animals.  We learned about Herbivores, Omnivores, and Carnivores. We read a great story about carnivores.

Religion:

We are learning about Baptism and how we are members of the Catholic Church.  We also are learning the Good News, Jesus is our Savior. We continue to work in our Lenten Reflection journals and listen to the Sacred Story program.  Students are learning about each of the Stations of the Cross.

It sounds like the bus presentation and bus ride were a big success.  I was sorry I missed it. Steve from Community Transit does an amazing job.

Melissa Morrier-Turk

My name is Melissa Morrier-Turk, I am a graduate of SMM (class of 1986) and have been a member of the parish community much of my life. I have a B.S. in Business with an emphasis in Human Resources from Central Washington University and have spent my 23 years working in this field, traveling all over the USA and Canada as an HR Director, as well as a corporate trainer. My husband Mike and I have two kids, our son will be a Junior at Archbishop Murphy High School and our daughter will be a 7th grader here at SMM. As a parent, I have been an active member of the SMM community, most recently wrapping up my role as the Parent Club President this year and V.P. last year. I have also been an active member of the auction for the past 8 years, along with numerous opportunities to volunteer in my children’s classrooms and through club activities. In my off time I enjoy running, cycling, hiking, anything outdoorsy really. I have absolutely loved working with and getting to know so many of the families here at SMM as a parent and am looking forward to getting to know you all better as part of your school community!
